Throughout the year I offer community workshops, therapy groups and retreats (near and afar) to help people with specific life challenges. Upcoming events include the following:
“It was when I stopped searching for home within others and lifted the foundations of home within myself I found there were no roots more intimate than those between a mind and body that have decided to be whole.” — Rupi Kaur
May 2nd – June 6th ~ Wednesdays 6:30-9:30 pm, Surrey.
Co-facilitated with Sundeep Gill of sunlightcounselling.ca
How do you see yourself? Do you sometimes have attacking thoughts towards yourself or believe you are inadequate compared to others?
Or do you feel the need to always look perfect and present your best self to the world?
Perhaps you think your opinion doesn’t matter or tend to believe people won’t listen to you.
How we see ourselves can greatly impact our moods, intimate relationships, career and interactions with others. If you would like more confidence to step out and live your best life, this group is for you.
In this 6-week workshop we talk about where low self-esteem comes from, how it impacts our lives, and how we can turn our inner critic into a loving friend. You will not come out of this the same person!
The Women’s Empowerment Workshop
A Journey Towards Deeper Self-Awareness Using the Tool of Journaling
“One of the greatest tragedies in life is to lose your own sense of self and accept the version of you that is expected by everyone else.” ~ K.L. Toth
Journaling is a powerful tool in developing our relationship to self. When we use our most vulnerable and authentic words to express thoughts and emotions, we give ourselves the gifts of healing, personal growth and deeper understanding of who we are and what we need.
Using guided writing exercises, you will become reacquainted with parts of yourself you may have long forgotten. You’ll learn to let your thoughts and feelings flow freely onto the page while exploring transformational moments in your life and relationships. Through left brain (intellect) and right brain (emotional) techniques, you’ll discover who you really are and will learn the joys and benefits of writing down your soul.
Body Image Workshop
“If our only our eyes saw souls instead of bodies, how very different our ideals of beauty would be.” ~ Mother Theresa
Do you wish you could look in the mirror and love what you see, instead of picking fault with certain body parts?
In a society where we are pressured to look a certain way and in which “thin” is still pushed by the media and fashion industry as the “ideal,” it is no wonder so many of us suffer from poor body image. Low self-esteem in this area leads to destructive eating habits such as yo-yo dieting, binge eating and comfort eating.
In this workshop the goal is to repair your relationship with your body after years of destructive self-talk and yo-yo dieting through empowering conversation with like-minded individuals.
Divorce Care Support Group
“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings” ~ Lao Tzu
Divorce, or the breakdown of a long-term love relationship, has been named one of the most stressful and traumatic life experiences we can go through. Not only do we face the loss of a life partner, but many secondary losses, including financial stability, friendships, a home, and family life. But life can be good again, in fact it can be better than before. In this support group you will meet with others on the same journey and confront all those debilitating beliefs that leave you fearful about your future. We’ll also talk about the many practical challenges that come with such a life transitional breakup.
The Forgiveness Retreat
“We do not heal in isolation. When we reach out and connect with one another—when we tell the story, name the hurt, grant forgiveness, and renew or release the relationship—our suffering begins to transform.” ~ Desmond Tutu
The myth of forgiveness is that in forgiving we allow the other “off the hook.” In fact, forgiveness really has nothing to do with the person you need to forgive and everything to do with letting go of the chains that bind you to them. When we forgive we enter into a place where we see another’s humanity and are able to integrate the actions that wounded us into our lives, therefore enabling us to let go and move forward.
At this weekend retreat you will learn to finally free yourself, forgive and let go of the past.
Grief Support Group
“No one ever told me that grief felt so like fear.” ~ C.S. Lewis
In the murky waters of grief it can feel like life is slipping by in a fog and you are no longer a part of it. In that place it is hard to believe you will ever know joy again.
In this grief support group you will work through your grief in a safe accepting space at your own pace and find hope with people who understand exactly what you are going through.
**These workshops are open to all adults age 18+ and not restricted by gender or sexual orientation.**
